Confirm the flight is legal here and now
- Check current airspace and temporary restrictions using the official tool for your jurisdiction.
- Confirm property or land-manager permission. Airspace permission and ground access are separate.
- Verify that registration, pilot qualification, Remote ID or other required documents apply.
Inspect the aircraft
- Look for cracks, loose arms, damaged landing gear, missing screws and signs of impact.
- Remove and inspect each propeller; replace anything nicked, bent, split or poorly seated.
- Rotate motors by hand with power disconnected and compare feel and sound.
- Secure the camera, gimbal, antennas, payload and storage card.
Check power, control and the site
- Use only undamaged, correctly seated batteries.
- Confirm enough charge for the flight plus reserve.
- Verify the home point, control link, failsafe and return-to-home settings.
- Assess wind, obstacles, people and an emergency landing area.
Make a deliberate launch decision
Hover close to the launch point long enough to check response, stability, video, telemetry and vibration. Land immediately if anything feels different from normal.
